"We all know how important it is to plan for the future. Having a Lasting Power of Attorney in place should be as common and natural as making a Will."
- Jack Straw, former Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice
Power of Attorney
We’re here to support you; not sure what to do or have a few questions? Request a call back and a qualified Financial Adviser will be in touch for an informal chat to help you through (evening & weekends are fine too!).
It’s important to get it right first time when arranging a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) and this is what we specialise in. Before registering your LPA our compliance team will take every step to ensure the LPA complies with stringent requirements of the Office of Public Guardian. If there are any discrepancies, we’ll give you a call to iron out the issues.
According to the Office of Public Guardian approx. 15% of paper based applications contain errors and on average 45% online apps don’t complete.
Having to reapply means additional fees, but more importantly if the person applying (the donor) loses mental capacity during the failed application period then you CANNOT set up a new LPA.
This would mean having to apply to the Court of Protection to appoint a Deputy; this is a significantly more expensive, time consuming and onerous process (this can cost tens of thousands of pounds).
Our fees are extremely competitive; please note we also register the LPA with the Office of Public Guardian, which must be done in order for the LPA to be active. Other companies providing a similar service don’t include the registration and aren’t always clear and transparent about this.
We encourage you to shop around and want you to be comfortable with using our service; don’t forget you can apply for an LPA yourself via the Office of Public Guardian.
Once the LPA is registered we’ll be in touch with some tips and advice on what to do next!
